Leanne joins the College on March 11, 2024
Financial Services is pleased to announce that Leanne Avdich has joined the College, effective March 11, 2024, as Associate Director, Finance Operations. This position is responsible for oversite of the financial operations of the College including Financial Reporting, Payroll, AR, AP and related systems.
Leanne brings extensive experience in post-secondary finance from her tenure with UBC Okanagan where she was a Finance Manager for several portfolios throughout her career. In those roles she supported portfolios through strategic planning, providing financial advice, and aligning financial goals with departmental operations. She has led financial initiatives that optimized resource management and promoted financial accountability and compliance with internal controls. Two examples are the implementation of zero-based budgeting and activity-based costing. Her prior experience in public accounting has allowed her to develop strong financial reporting skills by auditing other post-secondary institutions. She has served the community by being the Treasurer for the Rotary Centre for the Arts and the Sandman Harvest Foundation.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and her Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
As a former graduate of AVÌìÌÃ, she is genuinely excited about the opportunity to be a part of the OC team. Leanne is passionate about post-secondary and has continued to be a part of OC’s Alumni to give back. When asked what her superpower was, Leanne shared that it is remaining calm in high stress situations.
