Prepare to be scared: OC hosts outdoor Fear Film Fest
Eat, drink and be scary with AV’s Fear Film Fest, a series of outdoor film screenings in the Kelowna campus courtyard from Oct. 4 to 6.
Hosted by the Communications Department, the open-air screenings were popular events with students before the pandemic, and are returning this year with the goal to make your hair stand on end.
“We’re reviving a long-standing department tradition of hosting community building events as a way to increase student engagement. We hope the timing of this film fest will also give students a chance to blow off a little steam as midterm season approaches,” said Ed Henczel, AV Communications Department Chair.
The lineup of films includes:
- Tuesday, Oct. 4 — Blood Quantum: We all bleed red (2019)
- Wednesday, Oct. 5 — Scream: Solving this mystery is going to be murder (1996)
- Thursday, Oct. 6 — Parasite: Act like you own the place (2019)
Bring your own lawn chair or blanket. Popcorn available for $1 with profits going to OCSU’s Pantry to support food security initiatives for students. Event is rain or shine; screenings will be held in S104 in the event of inclement weather.
